“Outcome of the ROK-Nepal Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (Sept. 6)”
ROK Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held talks with Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal in Kathmandu on September 6.
Minister Cho expressed condolences over the flood damage in Nepal and raised concern over nine Korean nationals who remained unaccounted for, requesting the Nepalese government’s active support in search efforts.
He explained that the ROK government had dispatched the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT), equipped with search, rescue, and forensic equipment, at Nepal’s request and was conducting search and rescue operations in cooperation with Nepalese authorities.
Korea also plans to provide approximately KRW 130 million in relief supplies and USD 1 million in humanitarian assistance through the IFRC. The Nepalese Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Korea’s assistance.
Both sides agreed to maintain close cooperation on search and rescue and recovery efforts, while strengthening cooperation on climate change and supporting the swift restoration of normal life in Nepal.
