A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK Sunday gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA in connection with the fact that European countries are calling for "international commitment" as regards the anti-DPRK "sanctions resolution" adopted at the UN Security Council:

    After the U.S. prodded the UNSC into cooking up another anti-DPRK "sanctions resolution" recently, UK, France and other European countries demanded the DPRK "fulfill its international commitment."

    The UNSC in the "sanctions resolution" branded the nuclear warhead explosion test conducted by the DPRK in September last as "threat to international peace and security", but the UN Charter and all international laws do not stipulate that a nuclear test poses any threat to international peace and security.

    If there is such article, the U.S. and other permanent members of the UNSC should be subject to the sanctions, to begin with, as they carried out nuclear tests more than any other countries.

    The DPRK has categorically rejected "sanctions resolution" of the UNSC as it denies the sovereignty of the DPRK only.

    In this regard, the DPRK in May last demanded the UN secretary general clarify such legal holes in the above-said "sanctions resolution." But the UN Secretariat has not replied yet though six months have passed since then.

    Under this situation it is the stand of the DPRK that the European countries which boast their history and tradition of law-abiding should answer the above-said question.

    Their act of demanding the DPRK "fulfill international commitment," failing to give any answer to this question, can convince nobody.

    Nothing is more dastardly and mean action than trying to slap independent sanctions against the DPRK outside the UNSC as the "resolution" of the UNSC this time, in particular, is a product which reflected the balance of forces within it.

    If European countries have independence, they should think and behave according to it.

 

Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to December 6 Children's Camp

in Kangwon Province

 

December 7, 2016. Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the remodeled December 6 Children's Camp in Kangwon Province.

Enjoying a bird's-eye view of the camp, he said the buildings of the camp have been built in such a peculiar style as to depict a sailing boat in a sea suited to the features of the coastal area. He praised the people of Kangwon Province for having done a great job, saying that another camp for children, a cradle for them, has appeared in the province.

Going round the room dedicated to the history of the camp and its other places, he learned in detail about the remodeling and preparations for operating it.

Feasting his eyes for a long while on the painting depicting kind-hearted leader Kim Jong Il watching with a smile on his face children who are going to camp after stopping his jeep on the way to a forefront post, he said: "The General is going to the front while children are heading for camp." He recollected with deep emotion words of a song dating back to the period of the Arduous March, Forced March. "We should keep the cheerful laughter of children, their songs heard, always remembering the General who took so much care of them to make them happy even in those difficult days," he urged.

Going round a library, e-library and rooms for disseminating general knowledge, he stressed the need to steadily improve the method of education as required by the developing pedagogy of the new century and ages and psychological characteristics so that the camping may help the children acquire broad knowledge.

Making the rounds of bedrooms, a room for cooking lecture, the room for cooking practice, kitchen, dining hall and birthday party room, he said the camp looks impeccable though it was built with locally available materials. "Children will always remember the days of camping when they have meals, enjoying coastal scenery, and prepare boiled rice and various dishes by themselves," he noted.

Going round the house having a room for the education in Kim Jong Il's patriotism, room for class education, video games room, etc., he was pleased to see all facilities built to be of educational value so that children may cherish patriotism from childhood. He emphasized the need to provide better facilities for cultural education and living conditions of the camp to suit the level of the children growing in the highly civilized society.

Walking the compound of the camp, he said it is very nice to see the camp clad in thick verdure of pine trees. He called for planting many more trees of good species and fruit trees to make the environment look more beautiful and turn the compound of the camp into woodland for educating campers.

He highly appreciated the officials, party members and other working people in Kangwon Province for their successful remodeling of the December 6 Children's Camp, saying that it is the proud fruition of their devoted efforts.

He had a photo session with the officials and employees of the camp.

 

Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to Wonsan Shoes Factory

 

December  9, 2016. Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, gave field guidance to the Wonsan Shoes Factory.

Shaking hands with the familiar officials of the factory, he appreciated much efforts made by its workers to attain the goal of the 200-day campaign by the end of August last in the vim and vigor with which they greeted the Seventh Congress of the Party after overfulfilling their yearly national economy plan during the 70-day campaign of loyalty. He highly praised them for putting into practice the Party's intention of having turned the factory into a model and icon of the shoes factories of the nation.

He went round the room dedicated to the history of the factory.

Satisfied to learn that the factory is effectively conducting the education of its employees in various forms and by diverse methods after successfully arranging the room dedicated to its history so that they may keenly feel leader Kim Jong Il's love for the people, he called on them to bring their products to the world level with the pride and honor of working at the glorious factory and thus implement the instructions given by the leader to it to the letter.

Going round the injection molding workteam, shoe-making shop, instep strap shop, designing room and other places of the factory, he learnt in detail about the production and quality of products.

Looking with a broad smile at varieties of shoes for men, women and children manufactured by the factory, he said that he could notice the increase in varieties of shoes and improved style of shoes. "They look very nice and it is gratifying," he said, adding with pleasure that the factory has greeted a heyday for shoes.

He set forth the tasks facing the Wonsan Shoes Factory.

He expressed expectation and conviction that the factory would make uninterrupted innovations and advance in the spirit of Mallima as befitting the factory to which the Party pays deep attention.
