Kathmandu, 14 September 2026: H.E. Md. Shafiqur Rahman Bangladesh Envoy appreciated the uniqueness of Nepali culture and tradition, reflected in its values of courtesy, loyalty, humility, and mutual respect, while addressing the 7th Edition of the Asian Professional Excellence Award 2026 as Special Guest in a local hotel in Kathmandu yesterday.
Hosted by Season Media, the event was graced by Rt. Hon'ble Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, First President of Nepal as the Chief Guest. The occasion brought together distinguished personalities from Nepal and various Asian countries, including Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, etc.; who have made outstanding contributions to various sectors of society, including industrial development and leadership, youth entrepreneurship, journalism, photography, banking, broadcasting and governance.
In his remarks, he thanked the organizers for creating a platform that recognizes excellence, dedication and meaningful contributions to various sectors of society across Asia. He noted that such initiatives provide pathways for people particularly the youths, to believe in their own potential and contribute to the society through hard work, determination, innovation and commitment.
Highlighting Asia’s growing role in the global economy, he underlined the need for greater cooperation among the peoples, businesses, institutions, journalists from both print media and television media and young entrepreneurs of Asian countries to harness the region’s enormous potential in business, trade, energy, education, technology, tourism, and other creative industries.
Citing Nepal’s enduring tradition of recognition and celebrating excellence as a reflection of its deeper cultural ethos, the Envoy applauded the beauty and resilience of Nepali society and its rich heritage, observing that the spirit of courtesy, loyalty, and mutual respect may have been nurtured through centuries of cultural and spiritual traditions, the timeless teachings of Buddha, and the country’s unique geography—together shaping a profound philosophy of peaceful coexistence, humility, mutual recognition, and respect for one another.
He also highlighted the longstanding and excellent relations between Bangladesh and Nepal, which has continued to grow in various areas adding that both sides needed to harness the existing potentials for our shared prosperity. Taking the opportunity, he also highlighted the common development challenges and the democratic journey of the two countries under the visionary leadership of H. E. Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Rt Hon'ble Balendra Shah, Prime Minister of Nepal.
The Asian Professional Award is considered a prestigious recognition in Nepali media sector. Renowned industrialist, Prem Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman of the Panchakanya Group, was given a lifetime achievement award for his long dedication and contribution to the industry leadership. In the sectoral award giving segment, three Bangladeshis were awarded for their life-long contribution to their respective sectors. The Bangladeshi awardees are Mr. Alhaj Md. Sohag, Founder & Chairman - Mim Sharat Group (Outstanding Business Leadership & Social Responsibility Award), Mr. Indrajit Kumer Ghosh, Chief photojournalist, The daily Khoborer Kagoj (Excellence in Photojournalism Award) and Mr. Sharif Sarwar, Underwater Photographer (Ocean & Underwater Photography Excellence Award). Mr. Pradeep Raj Anto, President of the Nepal Photography Association and the Chairman of the Season Media was present in the award giving ceremony.
