Emergency Relief Operations by Helicopter

- On September 30, a helicopter was deployed to conduct an aerial assessment of flood-affected areas, including the hydropower plant site in the Rasuwa region where nine Korean nationals were reported missing, as well as areas along the China-Nepal border. Essential medicines were delivered to isolated communities in Rasuwa and Uttargaya.
- Areas visited included Trishuli, Betrawati, Upper Trishuli-1 (a Korean hydropower plant construction site), Dhunche, Syabrubesi, Timure, and areas near the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border checkpoint.
- The team landed near the Korean hydropower construction site and at the Uttargaya Health Post to conduct field inspections and deliver essential medical supplies.

Distribution of Winter Clothing to Flood Victims

- A distribution ceremony for 400 sets of winter clothing (two types) was held from 15:00 to 16:30 at Yellow Gumba, a temporary shelter for flood victims located in Swayambhunath, Kathmandu.
- Approximately 200 people attended the event, including representatives of flood-affected communities such as Jangge Tamang, Bujung Tamang, and Suwaz Tamang.
- The shelter is currently accommodating approximately 380 residents from Syabrubesi who lost their homes as a result of flooding in the Rasuwa region.

Special Scholarship Award Ceremony at a Foundation-Supported School

- A special scholarship award ceremony was held for 32 students who lost immediate family members due to the recent flooding. Each student received a scholarship of NPR 60,000 per year. The opening ceremony of the Jeong Eun-hye Korean Language Class was also conducted from 09:30 to 11:00 at Prithvi Narayan School.
- The event was attended by Ambassador Park Jae-kyung, the Mayor of Tarkeshwor Municipality, and Krishna Hari Maharajan.
- Among the beneficiaries were students who had lost both parents and guardians caring for a three-month-old infant after losing a husband who had served as a soldier. During the event, the school principal expressed sincere gratitude for the Foundation’s special support.
- Captain Um emphasized that, as the scholarships are currently limited to one year, additional support should be considered. He instructed the branch to collect and report personal information and economic background data on the scholarship recipients for further review.
- Mayor Krishna Hari Maharajan stated that Prithvi Narayan School, which received support from the Um Hong Gil Human Foundation, is a source of pride for the local community. Ambassador Park Jae-kyung also expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s significant contribution to people-to-people diplomacy.

Donation to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund

- On October 1, the Foundation conducted a donation ceremony and contributed USD 30,000 in flood relief assistance to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
- Together with Foundation advisors, including Sonam Sherpa, Chairman of the Yeti Group, and former Minister of Education Gangalal, the delegation met with Finance Minister Swarni Wagle to present the donation. Commemorative photographs were also taken during the event.
- The donation ceremony was additionally attended by renowned mountaineer and motivational speaker Jamling Tenzing Norgay.
- Jamling Tenzing Norgay, the son of Tenzing Norgay, climbed Mount Everest with Peter Hillary in 2002 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first successful ascent of Everest. He currently serves as Chairman of the Tenzing Norgay Foundation and remains active in public speaking and writing.
