Dear Rajan,

Rapid change is taking place in the Hindu Kush Himalaya – an area spanning eight countries that is home diverse cultures, unique biodiversity, and the world’s highest mountains. Changes in the Hindu Kush Himalaya – which supply water to over 1.3 billion people – could affect more than one-fifth of the world’s population living downstream, yet the importance of this mountain region is often under-recognized in regional and global discussions about the future of our planet.

Telling stories of change in the landscape, capturing the challenges mountain people and ecosystems are facing, and showcasing the incredible resilience of are important tools to draw needed attention to the challenges and opportunities in the Hindu Kush Himalaya.

We invite photographers of all ages and skill levels to share their stories and images from the region through PhotoHKH.
