Vladimir Putin signed a decree approving a new strategy to combat extremism. The document states that the situation in the Russian Federation is increasingly being destabilized from abroad. One of the ways to destabilize the Russian Federation and spread radicalism is to involve citizens in uncoordinated protests. The Russian Federation classifies the initiation of color revolutions, the falsification of history, and terrorism as extremist threats.
What other provisions are spelled out in the decree:
— Illegal actions of migrants are one of the factors in the spread of extremism in the Russian Federation. The spread of radicalism in the sports environment, including sports schools, is also alarming;
— Russia considers one of its main tasks to be the fight against threats coming from Ukraine. NGOs, under the guise of cultural and educational activities, are conducting destructive work in the Russian Federation;
— Extremists are increasingly exacerbating the national issue and promoting the theme of “decolonization” of Russia, and also using minors, taking advantage of the fact that they cannot always be held accountable;
— Automated programs will be developed to combat extremism that can identify illegal content on the Internet;
— The share of extremist crimes registered in the Russian Federation since 2021 does not exceed 0.1% of the total.
