For Genuine Peace

The Korean peninsula is a bridge to the Eurasian continent and a gateway to the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the world’s hottest spots and big powers’ interests intermingle in the region. What if a war breaks out in the region?
Fortunately fighting has not broken out there with peace maintained.
In retrospect, imperialists have constantly plunged the planet into an abyss of war while flagrantly violating the security of sovereign countries by mobilizing huge military troops and instigating their vassal forces to mount proxy war. They try to unleash a war on the Korean peninsula in a bid to put it under their control.
As is well known, the DPRK was ravaged by the US armed invasion during the period from 1950 to 1953, the fiercest fighting since the Second Word War. The country has since been exposed to constant war threat and nuclear threat in an acute military showdown with the US. The US deployed a large number of nuclear weapons in the ROK and threatened the DPRK openly and directly with nukes. It has staged nuclear war drills at the doorstep of the DPRK every year, enlisting vast forces including its nuclear strategic assets.
The DPRK has done everything in its power to prevent the escalating tensions in the region out of the desire to ensure peace and security on the Korean peninsula and the rest of the world. As a matter of fact, the country has made well-meant efforts and displayed maximum patience to the admiration of the international community.
Peace, however, does not come of its own accord simply because people desire it nor can it be maintained simply because they beg for it.
Accordingly, the country has no other choice but to take self-defensive measures in order to make full preparations against the possible invasion of its dangerous enemy.
The country has set it a basic goal to improve people’s living standards by directing major efforts to economic construction under a peaceful environment. Naturally, it is the best option for it to possess nuclear weapons and strengthen its nuclear forces qualitatively and quantitatively to cope with the nuclear blackmail.

It is an established fact that the DPRK’s munitions industry has made a remarkable progress over the recent 10-odd years. In November last year it successfully fired a spy satellite, and the following month it staged a launching drill of ICBM Hwasongpho-18. Meaningfully enough, local media claimed that the armed forces of the DPRK have now taken in their hands both the “eyes” that can look over a very long distance and the strong “fist” that can reach a very long distance.
Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, believes that peace is safe, reliable and durable only when it is defended by the enormous strength with which to control and deter the enemy and that herein lies the sure guarantee for the safety of the country and people and their future.
Currently, the absolute might of the country responsibly performs the mission of deterring war and defending peace.
The international community acknowledges that as long as it is in the hands of the iron-willed and diligent Korean people, the strong war deterrent will reliably guarantee global peace. It is because the war deterrent serves entirely to defend honest people and check the imperialists’ desperate attempt to realize their aggressive schemes against other countries under the signboard of “defending peace.”
