Right Honorable Prime Minister Sushila Karki,
Government of Nepal
Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers
Singha Durbar, Kathmandu
Subject: Memorandum on the Protection of Nepal’s Non-Aligned Foreign Policy, Sovereign Interests, and Nepal–China Friendship
Right Honorable,
The Nepal-China Mutual Cooperation Society considers the sovereignty, geopolitical balance, non-aligned foreign policy, and long-term national interests of the nation of Nepal as paramount. Based on this criterion, we are deeply concerned about the current political situation.
Nepal's non-aligned policy and friendship with its neighbors based on mutual respect are the original basis of Nepal's foreign policy and tradition. However, it is clearly seen that the current government's structure and policy-making process have weakened this tradition, prioritizing the strategic interests of foreign powers.
The realities and concerns we have seen are as follows:
1. The Prime Minister's past and closeness to foreign camps
– It is well known that the Prime Minister's judicial and political journey has been linked with the Indian, European, and then American spheres of influence.
– This has weakened Nepal's independent and balanced foreign policy and raised suspicions of implementing the agenda of foreign powers. The faces in the government and the formation process have strengthened it.
2. Influence of foreign NGOs/INGOs in the Cabinet
– Almost all ministers appear to be directly or indirectly associated with American or Western-funded organizations (such as the Barbara Foundation, NED, etc.).
– This has made the current government a fully American coalition government. Indian characters appear to be used as an external cover.
3. Anti-China Character
– The core format of the current power structure is focused on opposing China.
– This government's move has increased threats to directly harm the historic friendship between Nepal and China, Nepal's commitment to the 'One-China Policy', and strategic projects like the BRI.
4. Foreign Involvement in the Change of Power
– There is no doubt that the current movement and the subsequent power structure would not have been possible without the American strategy, the activism of foreign aid agencies, and the involvement of even the Nepali Army.
– This has seriously affected Nepal's internal sovereignty, political stability, and balance with its neighbors.
Our Demands and Suggestions:
1. The Prime Minister should make public a clear and firm commitment to Nepal's foreign policy in line with the principle of non-alignment.
2. Appointments, policy-making, and decision-making processes that are directly influenced by US or other foreign-funded institutions and bodies must be immediately ended.
3. Nepal-China relations are directly linked to Nepal's long-term national interests. Therefore, Nepal's firm commitment to the 'One-China Policy' must be reaffirmed.
4. The government must take concrete and firm steps to stop anti-China campaigns, propaganda, or activities.
5. Those who have a positive view of China, understand and promote China's development and prosperity by linking it to Nepal's interests, should be ensured security, proportional participation in government, coexistence, and respect.
Right Honorable,
This memorandum is not just a criticism, but a patriotic warning to preserve Nepal's independence, non-alignment, and friendly relations with its neighbors.
Nepal-China friendship is not just a relationship between two countries, it is our geographical imperative, historical connection, and the foundation of our future shared prosperity. Therefore, it cannot be weakened by pressure or interference from any foreign power.
We firmly believe that Nepal should preserve its sovereign right to determine its own path, and move forward by further strengthening its relations with China.
