Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of Nepal Shisir Khanal on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UNGA in New York. The DPM/FM conveyed condolences over the loss and devastation caused by the recent flash floods in Nepal, assuring that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Nepal in this difficult time. Foreign Minister Khanal expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support and briefed the DPM/FM on the extent of the calamity and its impact on people and infrastructure. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation, including through the Political Consultations and Economic Consultations mechanisms. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and underscored the importance of continued coordination at multilateral fora, particularly the UN and SAARC. Both sides agreed to maintain contact to further expand bilateral cooperation.
